About Us – Our studio motto being “vers le ciel” Reach for the Sky

Miranda is a fully registered Victorian and Queensland specialist music, classroom and special education teacher at all levels, Pre-School, Primary and Secondary levels with qualifications across all areas of the education spectrum, holding required blue/ exemption cards.

The Rising Stars Studio Gold Coast is run according to the Music Teachers Association of Queensland guidelines and levels of achievement.

​Children and adults privately learn in fully equipped, air-conditioned comfort. Grand piano, upright and keyboards all available for Piano and Singing lessons, Classical, Modern and Contemporary styles.

​All examination organisations are offered which include AMEB, Australian Guild of Music Education, and Trinity College London etc. with higher grades being added to assist with the ATAR scores in years 10, 11 12.

​Singing and Piano classes can be taken also just for the love of learning with no requirement to be assessed or examined being imposed on any student. That is the choice of parents and individuals.

​When exams are chosen, be assured of quality outcomes and outstanding results. All exams are happy, rewarding   experiences to be anticipated with pleasure when taught at Rising Stars Studio.

​Miranda continues to perform as a professional Singer in Europe last September and October in Venice at the La Fenice Opera house also in Vienna and Paris in another exciting production. Miranda continues to teach all ages and levels in both singing and piano with outstanding results averaging 97% in yearly examinations. With numerous students gaining scholarships to the best schools and producing an array of varied and exuberant talent both instruments.

Her students have the edge and confidence only gained from a highly trained talented teacher and current performer can offer students both male and female. Miranda enormous library of repertoire and music from all genres added to her knowledge of vocal anatomy ( family of doctors ) plus vocal anatomy classes which has added to Miranda’s understanding of all voice types and range development.

A professional family of Doctors and professional musicians, Miranda’s mother Roma Rainford was an international and brilliant Australian Concert pianist and vocalist winning the JC Williamson’s singing scholarship. Graduated from Melbourne University Faculty of Music (Conservatorium), as an already well known young protégé, likened to Sergei Rachmaninoff by Percy Grainger and Professor Bernard Heinze.

​Roma went on 25 years as the ABC’s concert pianist soloist and travelled the world performing returning to teach extensively at the Conservatorium of Music, and in private practice.

Miranda Grandmother was a professional Opera singer and as an Australian gained a place at Covent Garden singing all the major repertoire as well as on the continent.

​The history and background is very inspiring, but it is best to seize the opportunity to have a trial lesson and make those dreams a reality at the Rising Stars Studio.

Miranda was also teaching both piano and voice to many celebrities’ children in Melbourne at this stage.

With a natural flair for stage and television the voice of an angel and looking like Jerry Hall”, as Bert Newton had described her, yet the ability to change her trained voice into all modern styles of singing, Miranda was the ideal person for this new role.

Acceptance then followed after year 12 Honours results into the prestigious Conservatorium of Music at Melbourne University. Miranda commenced a Bachelor of Music (Hons.)

During this period Miranda became the Soprano solo in productions at the Faculty which included:

  • ​Dido and Aeneas by Purcell
  • The Marriage of Figaro
  • The Magic Flute
  • The Creation and the Messiah
  • The Medium
  • Merry Wives Of Windsor
  • Brahms Requiem

To name a few, plus numerous Concerts in the Performing theatre and lunchtime concerts ranging from French Spanish and Italian song festivals to items from Operetta Music theatre and Opera.

Miranda had won the prestigious Walter Kirby Singing scholarship from the Faculty of Music. The Mona Mc Caughey, Muriel Cheek Vocal awards, plus the Austral Salon scholarship from the Conservatorium of Music. Miranda was also awarded two Academic Exhibition awards from Melbourne University for academic excellence.

Tours with members of the Victorian Opera, also concerts and productions with Margaret Schofield accompanying the ensemble which often included David Hobson and many established, aspiring and gifted young performers in the profession.

Following Graduation Miranda was accepted into the Cantica Workshop and trained with Andrew Field and Audrey Langford in London, plus Jacques Portier in Paris, finally to Julliard in the USA where she trained again in Voice, encompassing many styles from Opera, Music Theatre to Jazz. At this time she studied special single classes at American Drama Academy in various aspects of acting, which have been of great value in her varied career. At Julliard there were masterclasses with Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, and Kirri Te Kanawa amongst others. Concerts were arranged at the Lincoln Centre and many wonderful opportunities to perform.

With an American agent, Miranda was engaged over 4 Christmas seasons at the Hilton Hawaii as a guest artist with the Band/Orchestra singing in an internationally chosen cast entertaining 3,000 people in the Hilton Dome. Miranda sang modern popular, jazz standards and well known Classical opera items to appeal to all ages present.

​Miranda has performed in

  • “Les Misérables” as both Fantine and Eponine.
  • “Into the Woods”
  • “Bach to Broadway”
  • French Bastille Cabaret-Solo Soirees
  • “Songs of the Stars”
  • Evenings to remember at the Arts centre and National Gallery.
  • Guest with David Foster return season.
  • Many more ongoing contracted seasons, both at home and when possible overseas.
  • Wedding Functions and special occasions including Opera excerpt’s combined with other celebrities, contemporary repertoire and Music Theatre selections are a major part of Miranda’s performing talent and experience.

Back in Australia, Miranda enrolled again at Melbourne University where she completed a further degree in Education then an Early Childhood Teaching Graduate Degrees, which combined gave her wide and varied advantages in all areas of the educational curriculum. As a Music Specialist as well as a Primary, Secondary and Early Childhood teacher, with an in depth knowledge and understanding of children’s learning requirements at all levels of the educational spectrum.

With Music and Education Degrees, Performing Diplomas, plus A.Mus.A. and L.Mus.A. Diplomas in voice and piano, private teaching has been an ongoing skill and passion that Miranda has undertaken for a long time both in Melbourne and on the Gold Coast in recent times as well as teaching both in private and public education as a registered teacher with the Queensland College of Teachers.

Miranda has been Director of several Music departments Primary, Secondary and Tertiary where the students have all excelled in their love of learning music the performing arts, Drama, Stage craft, voice production all central components of a rounded curriculum.

Currently, Miranda is a Music Specialist and majors in Singing, piano, theory, voice production, stage craft and drama skills from the early years to adults. As an early childhood, primary, secondary as well as tertiary teacher, Miranda has also embarked upon a PhD with her passion for teaching and seeing her students achieve high academic results through giftedness training with music education in her own unique experienced way of teaching.
